Terrific Team 24

Hi our names are Anna and Lucy and we are going to be your Blogger Loggers this week
First of all:

Supermarket visit
This term we had a supermarket visit to the New World in Belfast for our food for thought program.
Our guide was Rita.
First we did an activity about everyday food items and once in a while food items in each category.
Then we did another activity about rainbows of fruit.
Then we got together and got a $60 voucher to New World.
On our way out we each got a lunchbox.

Winter Sport Tournament Is Finished
In the end all the teams did extremely well, some teams even came in the top 10.
All the teams tried their hardest and gave it their all.
And they all did magnificently.

Kapa Haka Performance
Kapa Haka was a great success involving lots of talented Kapa Hakarians.
It was performed on a Monday night at HornCastle Arena.
"It was a lot of waiting around but it was worth it"said one of the Kapa Hakarians.
Lexi said"it was fun for my first time and I really enjoyed performing with everyone"
She also said"we practised for about 1 month and a half to 2 months every Friday"

Speech Competition
The year 5 & 6 speech Competition was a very high standard.
Estella, George & Lucy were the room 24 finalists,Lexi was the reserve.
George's speech was on why you shouldn't eat McDonalds,Estella's speech was on sign language and
Lucy's speech was on why you should play a team sport. One of the things that Lucy said was"There
is no I in team."
The final places were:3rd for year 6 was Nisha Biswa 2nd for year 6 was Jake Goddard and finally 1st place was...BEN COX!!!!
for the year 5's 3rd was Alfie Anderson 2nd was Olivia(not sure of her last name)and finally first was...LUCY HALLER!!!!

Choir
Even though the brutal, perfect King Williams forced the boys to go to choir they are surprisingly enjoying it.
They are doing practises for their big debut at HornCastle Arena.
They are doing around 11 songs with around 100 to 150 other kids.
They are sounding superb.
Ms Emelous is our singing conductor who is conducting us to our singing limits.

Showcase
The whole school is doing a showcase with their year groups and they are working hard to make it just right.
The year 0's are doing one and the year 1's and 2's and the year 3's and 4's and the year 5's and 6's are doing them.
We interviewed Anna and she said"Its really fun,it takes a lot of practise and preparation,I find it helpful doing dance in our room and I like how it's not just us doing it.I like how it's the entire school  doing it and I think its good for our school to do it because not many schools are able to do it and I think it's going to be fantastic!"
We are all practising hard and the performance is next week on Thursday and we are going to ROCK!!!!

That's all for this week Blogger Logger fans see you later alligators.

Team 24 week 2 term 3

Hi and welcome to blogger loggers for week 2. Your blogger loggers today are Louie and Estella.

Last term we had Parent teacher interviews. Mr Williams was very impressed with what he heard from some of the parents. Mainly the children took over the interview show their parents the amazing work that they have done.

Upcoming is the year 5/6 speech competition in week 4. All of the children have to prepare a speech for their class competition. The top children go and compete in the finals. Remember you can do it about anything you want. No props. Mr Williams is looking for expression, clarity, if you have learnt it off by heart, eye contact, posture and if you are listening well.

On Thursday 23rd of July was the Heaton open night. The day before the principle of Heaton (Mrs Knight) came to talk to the years 6's about Heaton. The open night was awesome. There were performances from some of the Heaton groups, great displays of what they do at  Heaton and much more. Many people showed up. I bet that the years 6's who are going to Heaton cant wait!

Yesterday on the 27th of July the principle of Shirley intermediate came to talk to the year 6's. Their open night is on 30th of July.

In week 2 on Tuesday Anton did some magnificent maths when Mr Williams wanted his math class to make an equation  that =100 well everyone was doing 99+1 or 101-1 Anton did 3000-2900. Mr Williams was really impressed. Back in term two he answered 6x5 quicker than lighting. So it shows that Mr Williams is a great teacher and Anton is a maths expert for his stage.

This week on Monday at assembly we had the certificates handed out. Our winners were:
Our heart of achievement went to Lucy Haller for being Lucy Haller
Academic went to Lexi Cummings
Our last award the Values went to Arozo Rafyee

On Wednesday the 22nd of July Lexi, Aliana and Estella went to the dance workshop to learn about interperaitive dancing because our topic this term is about dancing. All the senior classes have to make up a mini dance that describes Christchurch. We described Christchurch ending with ing  like rolling or streaming we also got to make up words like towering or hilling.

The festival choir is underway with all of the members starting to learn the songs. The theme is RING OF FIRE! Loads of boys were forced into it but ended up enjoying it. Some of those boys are Sithum, Mac, Max and Tom.

Thats all for this week so until next time see you later

A few prepared talks from the term

and all the different types of rocks.

Now we're going to report on Hagley sport
The rugby team played Fendalton A team. It was a close game and was a game of two halves. It was a draw at halftime. The second half we had good attack and defence and in the end we won by 1 try. We had a few injuries. the score was 6-5 to us and Tom Irving got player of the day for outstanding playing.Well done Tom! report by Fynn Marshall.

The last 3 weeks of school

Good morning every one we are your blogga loggas Sithum and Jordyn. Welcome to term 2!
First of all we will be talking about the forty hour famine.

Yesterday during year 5 and 6 team assembly a lovely lady called Laura, came in to talk about poor people and how they live and survive in Bangladesh and how we could help them by doing the 40 hour famine.

The 40 hour famine is a fundraiser for people that can't afford to live healthy like us . So we would like you to give up something in your life such as furniture , speaking , eating , technology all for 20 to 40 hours. You get sponsored for every hour you give something up and the money raised is for the children that need the help from us so they can live like us

Our next topic will be on the big Easter Egg hunt. We paired up with our buddy class, we made some paper baskets a few days before the hunt . We each got handed a printed picture of Easter eggs. Each clue we found had a coulor on it after we had found all the clues we ran back to our buddy's class and coloured the picture .When the last one was finished  we got to go back to our buddy class . We had to find our easter baskets, we were surprised when we found our Easter baskets full of Easter eggs after all I had a tummy ache.

Up next is A.V.A.I.L.L.L.

Availll is a type of reading where you watch a movie with subtitles on, your teacher pauses the movie and you write the subtitle that it last said.We are very excited for this activity we hope you are too.

We are all running every day to get fit for the Angry Nation(aka Cross Country). It's on next week and Estella and Fintan seem to be the speedy ones at this stage, Everyone is improving.

We are learning about Anzac Day, and some children have brought along information about family members who were in one of the world wars.

Yesterday was Anna's birthday, Sithum's is soon, he is very excited, and promises to bring Mr Williams a big piece of birthday cake!

That's all for this week,

Sithum and Jordyn.

Hello and welcome, this is Aliana and Thomas your blogger loggers for this week. Here are some things that have happened the past weeks.

1. Treaties

Last week we did treaties between people in our families. One of the common agreements involved bedtimes. They were all ripped up, stained, and burnt which made them look magnificent.

2. Media Super Stars

Four of the children from RM 24 were invited to sing in the Cricket World Cup Opening Ceremony with Hayley Westenra in the children's special choir of 100 children from around Christchurch! The first practise was on Saturday and the last practise was on Wednesday. Did you see any of us on TV?

3. P.T and B.R

Mr Williams chooses people to do Prepared Talks and Book Reviews each day. One of the best so far is Estella. The goal for P.T and B.R is to be confident in front of an audience. For Book Reviews we bring a book to school to review. For Prepared Talks we bring something in to talk about.

4. Estella's Clarinet

For Prepared Talks Estella Wallace decided to talk about her Clarinet. We learned that the Clarinet is a very mind-blowingly complicated instrument. Her prepared talk went for 6 min and 46 secs. Wow OMG.

5. Aquagym Swimming

"Uhhhh ohhh uhhh ohhh uhhh ohhh" drip drip drip drip. Hi blog readers I just came out of the pool. This week we are doing Aquagym swimming. There is 2 pools, the BIG pool and the little pool. We go to Aquagym at 9:00 am.
